General Election 2010 The Start

So here we go. The media are trying to drum up how important this election is going to be but you bet the population in general is cursing it because it really does not seem that important. Given that the parties share too much in common these days then the differentiation is not that great. So it all depends on whether anyone is going to take an interest in all this and then bother to go to the polling station or whatever and vote. I still believe that the result is too close to call but it all depends upon whether people are taken in by the spin and visual displays that these people do. In the end and the FT put this quite nicely, it all depends on whether you believe in big or small government. Consider carefully that the private sector does have a reputation of not invoking the risk/reward strategy of going for a perceived growth and it has been the public sector who has been not afraid to go and do the big projects that has got the economy moving. Would like to know if a book has been written on this relating to the booms and busts of the last 100 years. The Conservatives are offering what they see as being relatively small government but what does that really mean - need some analysis here. This is after all not the United States and look at how successful or not their federal and state system really is. From great wealth to great poverty - example New Orleans.
